The administrator then derives his or her authority to act from the terms of the letters of administration.    ¶ Where the letter of administration is not granted, he or she lacks the authority to act as the properties of the deceased are deemed to be vested in the Chief Judge of the State. ¶ In Nigeria, the Probate court, under the supervision of the High Court, has the exclusive jurisdiction to grant probate in respect of a deceased's estate. ¶ The grant of the letter of administration gives the person named in the letter the legal right to access the assets, money and property of the deceased.
