THE RADIANT JUSTICE CHAMBERS, OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY DEED OF ASSIGNMENT The Deed of Assignment is the document transferring the sale of land or property from one buyer to another usually for a consideration. The names of the parties to a Deed of Assignment are Assignor (the Seller) and Assignee (the purchaser). The deed of assignment must be issued to the purchaser as proof of ownership of the land or property. The conveyance is done in writing, signed, sealed and delivered by the parties to the transaction. A registered deed of assignment not only transfers legal interest in real property, but also serves as the assignee's root of title. For the deed of assignment to be valid, it must contain the particulars of the parties (names, addresses, status), date of transfer of ownership, nature of title transferred, full description of the property, the consideration paid, details of a verifiable document that the property possesses.
